Cobalt ( is a fast growing cybersecurity start-up headquartered in San Francisco. Cobalt is providing a Pentest as a Service platform which leverages the sharing economy to find global security talent to help secure companies and their users. We have Scandinavian roots, an American base and a global outlook. Our offices in San Francisco, Berlin, and remote roles are characterized by a fun, fast-paced and collaborative culture based on individual responsibility and ownership.


We are looking for a passionate and experienced Marketing Communications Director to help us promote the Cobalt brand and narrative across all channels. Reporting to the VP of Marketing, you will be responsible for the public face of the company in all of its facets, including brand strategy, web properties, PR and social media, content, customer marketing, SEO and more.

What You Would Do

  • Lead global brand marketing and creative strategies for all external communications, including website, PR, blog, research, whitepapers, and more
  • Work with executive team to define and refine Cobalt’s brand, messaging priorities, and thought leadership while ensuring continued alignment with company goals
  • Collaborate with team leaders in Demand Generation, Product Marketing, Product Mgt, Engineering and Customer Success to generate impactful content that resonates with Cobalt’s target audience
  • Measure, monitor, and continually optimize to meet ambitious team KPIs (reported to our leadership team and Board of Directors)
  • Oversee and inspire a team of creative professionals, including members in web, design, content and PR. Providing guidance, mentorship, and career development support
  • Define and orchestrate Marketing content calendar across a mix of campaigns, owners, goals, and content types
  • Maximize the impact of our brand by identifying new partners, channels, and content distribution strategies
  • Get hands-on with editing & guidance throughout the content production cycle
  • Deep understanding of SEO and impact on driving growth
  • Select and lead external freelancers and agencies

You Must Have

  • 7+ years of experience working in a marketing communications role on a B2B software product
  • Demonstrated ability to experiment and drive growth for B2B channels
  • Fluent in content marketing tools, platforms, and distribution strategies, including: CMS, SEO, social media, data, and business intelligence
  • Passion around empowering and coaching your team.
  • Can lead with grit in a startup environment
  • You’re consistently driven to learn about your audience & what delights them
  • Experience taking initiative on omnichannel content marketing programs in a way that inspires B2B audiences to engage and take action
  • You’re data-driven and have demonstrated your ability to measure the success of your programs for constant self-improvement
  • Proven yourself to be a high energy, self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment
  • You’re a true team player that flourishes in a highly collaborative setting
