This job post is over 2 months oldand may no longer be available.

We are looking for a pragmatic and proactive Lead Software engineer who is ready to drive the early development phase of a new product. This role goes beyond writing code - it requires someone who is comfortable exploring different technical approaches, weighing trade-offs, and laying the foundation of a scalable architecture. If you’re a strong engineer with a strategic mindset, who enjoys building from scratch and shaping solutions rather than just implementing specs, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical design and development of a greenfield product
  • Evaluate different tools and approaches, and make informed architecture and stack decisions
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists, product managers, and designers
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Python and JavaScript (React)
  • Build scalable and secure solutions using AWS cloud services
  • Ensure adherence to software engineering best practices and maintain high code quality
  • Contribute to building the engineering culture and development processes from the ground up

What we expect:

  • Deep expertise in Python, especially in backend and data-driven applications
  • Good working experience with JavaScript (React or similar frameworks)
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS
  • Ability to analyze and compare different technology options (tools, databases, frameworks)
  • Solid grasp of algorithms, data structures, and system design principles
  • Prior experience leading a development team and guiding delivery
  • Willingness to act as a solution architect, even if the title isn’t formal
  • Ability to translate abstract business goals into concrete, scalable technical solutions
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written
  • Availability to work East Coast hours (GMT-4), at least until 17:00 ET during initial months

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with Tableau or similar data visualization tools
  • Familiarity with Snowflake
  • Background in life sciences or neuroscience projects
  • Experience designing systems for laboratory or medical data workflows
  • Basic familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, SQL, Oracle)

We offer:

  • Competitive compensation
  • Remote work
  • Flexible working hours
  • Work with a highly skilled and collaborative engineering team
  • Opportunity to contribute to impactful, real-world healthcare solutions
