Description
Fuel50 is seeking an Engineering Manager to join our Engineering Team in New Zealand. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of talented engineers while focusing on team growth, technical leadership, and the delivery of high-quality products.
The Engineering Manager will lead our AI, full-stack, and front-end engineers, working closely with product managers and designers to facilitate feature delivery, understand product goals, and identify measurable outcomes. You will also collaborate with platform engineers to ensure that our applications are scalable and reliable. We are looking for a strong technical leader who is passionate about people development, technical excellence, and cross-functional collaboration. In this position, you will guide your team to success by fostering an environment that supports learning, development, and innovation.
As an Engineering Manager, you will oversee the creation of a world-class enterprise product, engaging in all aspects of the product lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include gathering requirements, brainstorming ideas, and empowering your team to deliver features into production. This role will involve tackling complex challenges, such as incorporating AI, scaling our application, ensuring high availability, and implementing observability and monitoring. You will also have the opportunity to address interesting problems like zero-downtime migrations, refactoring code into microservices, and automating processes with CI/CD.
This position reports to the Head of Engineering and will collaborate closely with configuration specialists and technical support. We offer flexible working hours, though occasional calls outside of business hours may be required to support our global customers.
Requirements
- 3+ years of proven experience in a people leadership role, working as a Team Lead or Engineering Manager.
- 6+ years of experience in the software industry, with knowledge of SaaS architecture and proficiency in some of the following technologies: Java, Angular, MySQL, CI/CD, Docker, and Linux.
- Demonstrated ability and passion for conducting code reviews, opening pull requests, and enhancing our pipelines and tooling.
- Experience in technical roadmap planning and delivery management, ensuring alignment with company goals and clear timelines for execution.
- Proven track record of setting and driving OKRs, ensuring that team performance aligns with measurable objectives.
- Experience participating in architectural reviews and scoping sessions, with the ability to write clear requirement briefs for new features.
- Demonstrated ability to foster psychological safety and continuous feedback among direct reports and peers.
- Passion for efficiency, automation, and improving processes. Exhibit an unrelenting bias toward action.
- Ability to facilitate the RFP and sales processes by answering technical questions from clients regarding product features, architecture, and security.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to develop and coach a team, and build positive working relationships with direct reports, mentees, and collaborators across the company.
- Participation in a culture of continuous feedback with your reports and manager.
- Willingness to travel to our Takapuna office as required for planning.
