Job Overview:
Join our Remote Assistance Autonomous Vehicle Engineering team, focusing on developing and testing remote assistance interfaces that enhance communication between human Remote Assistance Operators and the autonomous systems of our vehicles. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the system's reliability and safety, contributing to the end-to-end process of developing robust, scalable, and effective remote operations for autonomous vehicles (AVs).
Goals & Impact: You will have a significant impact on developing a novel, scalable, and tested remote assistance system, contributing to the safe and reliable operation of autonomous vehicles. Your work will directly enhance system functionality by integrating insights from motion planning, controls, and behavior models into real-time remote assistance interfaces and ensuring that the systems satisfy safety and efficiency requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with data science and autonomy teams to develop robust test and validation plans of remote assistance capabilities and maneuvers.
- Develop and test remote assistance solutions that surface critical vehicle telemetry, diagnostics, and environmental context to operators, improving safety and efficiency.
- Conduct comprehensive testing and analysis of risk and performance across various AV capabilities to enhance remote assistance systems.
- Lead the test and validation of interfaces between vehicle subsystems, ensuring robust communication and data flow.
- Champion engineering excellence, emphasizing the importance of high-quality code, testing, and safety standards in safety-critical environments.
- Stay updated on the latest AV research and integrate practical findings into system enhancements
Qualifications:
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in C++ development, with a focus on testing and validating robotic systems.
- Proven track record of leading complex software projects, with a strong focus on testing and quality assurance.
- Extensive experience developing and shipping robust robotic solutions in high-stakes environments.
- Excellent software engineering fundamentals, with a passion for developing well-structured, well-tested, and scalable systems.
Bonus points
- Experience working with robotics technologies (Linux, ROS, OpenCV, CUDA).
- Prior experience in autonomous vehicle or robotics industries.
- Experience with network-based applications (protobufs, RPCs) and safety-critical software applications.
The salary range for this position is $161,200 - $237,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, long-term incentives, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
