Grafana Labs is hiringStaff Frontend Engineer

This is a remote opportunity and we would be interested in applicants from the Canadian Eastern and Central time zones only at this time.

The DataViz squad is part of the Grafana Frontend group. We are responsible for the majority of visualisations in Grafana like Histogram, Time series, Geomap and Canvas, as well as data manipulation with transformations. Our mission is to make all data visualisation useful, performant, and extensible so that Grafana’s users can make informed and confident decisions with their own data.

Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. You'll have the opportunity to work across the Grafana Frontend team and partner with other squads within the Grafana department to drive innovation and solve complex engineering challenges.

As a Staff Software Engineer in the DataViz squad, you will take on a leadership role, working collaboratively with other team leaders and members to develop and enhance our portfolio of panel visualisations with a focus on performance, maintainability and extensibility. Come and join us if you’re passionate about anything and everything Grafana, data visualisation, and OSS.

A typical “day in the life” includes:

  • Taking an active role in influencing our roadmap by engaging with internal stakeholders, customers and the OSS community
  • Mentoring and supporting other team members, participating in product and process discussions and collaborating with the team.
  • Taking ownership of your career and growth and working with your manager to identify relevant opportunities.
  • Writing clear design documents for upcoming solutions and reviewing those from others.
  • Participating in your team’s on-call rotations, supporting the operations and reliability of the solutions we build.
  • Providing technical support in customer escalations and helping us identify areas of high friction to address.
  • Working closely with the other squads in the Grafana Department.

What we are looking for:

  • You are comfortable working in a remote-first company and understand the importance of communication. The ability to clearly communicate in English (both written and verbal) is critical.
  • You enjoy working as a team. For us, working together means being collaborative, friendly, kind, and respectful.
  • You are interested in data visualisation and transformation and have solid professional experience as a Frontend Engineer.
  •  You take responsibility for operating the software you have built. You are open to joining our on-call rotations and have experience supporting software in production, ensuring reliability and responding to incidents as needed.
  • You easily build an understanding of the user’s context and goals which will help you build the simplest solution that brings the biggest value to them.
  • You know how to transform ideas into working code – you are able to design a solution, get feedback, and deliver large projects.
  • You are a self-driven individual who understands the power of feedback loops in making roadmap decisions and driving our product forward.
  • You enjoy working on complex solutions – Grafana is a highly technological solution and has avid followers who rely on it every day and care deeply about their workflows.
  • You have an active interest in observability (Metrics, Logs and Traces) and have experience with tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or other observability platforms.
  • You enjoy learning, growing, and supporting others to do the same
  • You appreciate efficiency and strive to identify and utilize the most effective tools for the task at hand. You naturally share your use of these tools with your team to maintain transparency and growth.
  • You care about our community of users and contributors and are keen to be an active Grafana Community Contributor.
