Ownership: Build, grow and lead a high-performing engineering team so that they can execute the most technical challenges in healthcare today
Us: Team Vital is now 18, with an engineering team of 6. Revenue has x6’d in the last year.
Salary: £130 - 160K + early stage options
Time zone: Fully remote but we want this person physically in GMT timezone

Our engineering team of 6 has been built by our Founder, Maitham (ML Engineer from Babylon Health) who cares deeply about building a world class engineering culture (read more here). We’re now in scaling mode, revenue has x6’d in the last year and we’re connecting millions of patients via out platform so it’s a perfect time for a Head of Engineering.
What you’ll be doing
Leading and growing the team: Hiring exceptional engineers, setting them up for success and supporting them to do their best work so that the product roadmap is delivered in the most impactful way possible for our customers
Help the team to ship Product: Working with Boris and the engineering team to make sure product progress is on track and challenges are discussed early to protect engineering time
Remaining hands-on: Given our size, you’ll be partnering with technical leads and engineers on granular technical decisions, reviewing PR’s and RFCs, unblocking issues and being involved in solving some of the hardest problems in healthcare
Strengthen our engineering culture: Work with our engineers to champion strong engineering practices; encourage knowledge sharing; develop communication guidelines and encourage ownership and autonomous working
Who you are and what learned skills you have
Motivations: You don’t need experience in healthtech but you should have a genuine interest in improving healthcare and where our product can go to transform lives. You want to dig deep into healthcare to tackle the underlying problems
Technical skills: 7+ years engineering experience. This is a hands-on engineering leadership role, getting into the weeds with engineers. You’ve built products for millions before at a startup to scale up with a strong engineering culture. Python & Go are our main languages, but it’s not required to be fluent in it
People-first management: a few years in a engineering management role during fast headcount growth, with a remote-first team. You’re a coach, you have high trust in your team and know how to grow and hire engineers
Team leadership: you have experience leading an engineering team. You know what it takes to deliver a product roadmap in the most efficient, impactful way and putting into process to strengthen strong engineering practices

How you’ll be compensated
Salary - £130 - 160K
