The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Engineer, with a strong emphasis on backend development, to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with Java (Spring Boot) in large-scale microservices architectures and be confident in applying test-driven development (TDD) principles. While the primary focus will be backend development, some frontend work using React and TypeScript will be required.
The successful candidate should also be proficient in containerisation (Docker), relational databases (Postgres), and modern DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines. Experience with Kafka and database migration tooling such as Liquibase would be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices using Java (Spring Boot).
- Write high-quality, testable, and maintainable code using TDD (JUnit, Mockito, or similar frameworks).
- Develop and optimise relational database schemas in Postgres (or similar SQL databases).
- Implement containerisation strategies using Docker.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins or similar).
- Collaborate within an Agile team, working closely with other engineers, product managers, and designers.
- Contribute to frontend development using React and TypeScript where necessary.
- Work with API specifications using Swagger (OpenAPI).
- Monitor and improve system performance, scalability, and reliability.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong proficiency in Java/Spring Boot
- Experience working with Postgres (or similar relational databases).
- Solid understanding of Docker and containerised deployments.
- Strong experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) using JUnit & Mockito (or similar libraries).
- Experience in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or equivalent).
- Comfortable working in Agile teams and collaborating across disciplines.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with API specifications (Swagger/OpenAPI).
- Knowledge of Gradle for dependency management and builds.
- Familiarity with Liquibase for database migrations.
- Exposure to Kafka for event-driven architectures.
- Experience with React and TypeScript for frontend development.
